Leave it to Chevrolet to know what makes a great sport-utility vehicle. They pioneered the SUV category and have worked relentlessly to perfect it ever since. The 2008 Suburban’s contemporary exterior is designed for both beauty and function. With a long 130-inch wheelbase, the Suburban offers recreational boating families a stable, confidence-inspiring towing platform you can equip with 20-inch chrome alloy wheels, power side steps, rear automatic load leveling, and even a rearview camera system1.
An accommodating interior welcomes the entire family and their gear. With a best-in-class 137.4 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume2 and available nine-passenger seating, it’s the largest and most versatile sport-utility in the Chevy line. Chevrolet engineers use their trucks like we do, so they’ve included electronics such as a standard iPod® input plus available DVD entertainment3 and navigation4 systems, and even a booming BOSE® sound system, to keep everyone happy on a long trip.
Suburban puts family first with standard safety features like head-curtain side airbags6 for all three seating rows, and OnStar® with Advanced Automatic Crash Notification and available Directions & Connections Plan with Turn-by-Turn Navigation7. The 2008 Suburban also offers the reassurance of the highest possible ratings in recent government frontal- and side-impact crash tests – five stars5.
Need to pull up a sizable boat and trailer weighing up to 9,700 pounds? The Suburban 2500 is ready. Four different V8 engines are offered, plus a choice of two- or four-wheel drive, and even different axle ratios and an available HD trailering package that makes towing easy and efficient. The engines start with the standard Vortec 5.3L V8 producing 320 hp on 2WD models, while the available E85 FlexFuel Vortec 5.3L V8 lets you select unleaded gasoline or E85 fuel at will.
Step up to two different Vortec 6.0L V8s for consummate towing ease. The Vortec 6.0L V8 (standard on the 2500 series) produces 352 hp to give the Suburban massive towing capability with the standard 6-speed automatic transmission. Or choose the Vortec 6.0L V8 with Active Fuel Management (standard on select half-ton models) which uses four or eight cylinders as conditions warrant – while still able to produce an amazing peak 366 hp.
This kind of muscle – together with an expansive, welcoming interior and leading-edge safety features – will make your next drive to the water as nice as the boat ride on it.
